Jamie Burton
Jamie Burton is an artist living in Shoreline, Washington who utilizes painting as a way to express himself in a genre he defines as "Medicine paintings." My work is a byproduct of integration work from participating in ceremonies utilizing entheogens in the Shipibo lineage. "I've been working on healing myself from depression and traumas utilizing these modalities, and I fell in love with the process and the community and just kept going."
Experiencing this connection to nature, the spirit realms, and deeper inner levels have created the inspiration to paint and dig deeper into what these experiences are teaching me, what I'm learning about myself, my relationship with the world we live in, and how to live life savoring all of its experiences. I found that when I paint with this intention, I learn through the creative process trusting and following my intuition.
Before participating in ceremony work, I had given up on painting due to depression. But the medicine brought me back to the art form. "Not only was it beneficial to me, but I found that others I shared my art and stories with were able to understand the lessons I was being shown as well.
Knowing that others could benefit from this work inspires me to create and share my story, my journey, and my path back to loving life and expressing myself fully.
I hope that my work will help connect viewers to the deeper hidden levels of our world and realize that we are truly connected and loved by nature and maybe help encourage them to go on a path of self-discovery of their own. I am currently finishing my second series titled "Owl Medicine" where I explore my relationship with spirit, totem guides and plant allies. I hope to one day create my own healing center and help facilitate healing practices for others.
